Many people have asked me what a blog is. I know I always have to think for a minute before I try to explain what it is. So here is a little intro to blogs and what they are.
When blogs were first started they were created to be online journals for people to write down their thoughts and talk about their lives. However, just explaining a blog as an “online journal” wouldn’t be entirely true anymore. This is because blogs are used for more than just personal thoughts and such. Blogs are now being used to share news, technology, art, etc. Even businesses are using blogs as a means of communicating with with customers or even their own employees.
Here is Wikipedia’s definition of a blog…
“A blog is a website where entries are written in chronological order and commonly displayed in reverse chronological order.”
That about sums up what a blog is. A blog contains posts (or “entries”) that are displayed in the order that they were posted on the web site. The newest posts are displayed first, the oldest posts are displayed last.
