Don’t Submit Your Web Site URL To Google

July 28th, 2007 · No Comments

I have seen many programs out there that say they will submit your web site monthly to “thousands” of search engines for a fee.  They say that it is necessary if you want to stay on the top of search engines.  That is absolutely ridiculous, and it is a complete waste of money!

I don’t see why anyone would ever have a reason to resubmit their web site to search engines monthly.  I don’t see any reason why it would cause you to get higher up in Google, the only thing I see it doing is wasting time. Many people, however, still pay for these programs because the programs usually do a good job making it sound that it is not only beneficial, it is a necessity. In truth though, it is a big waste of money.

I’ve been posting on this blog for no more than 10 days now, and I found that 7 days in I was already indexed in Google.  I didn’t even submit my URL to Google.  I didn’t have to do anything.

This is because Google releases “spiders” that crawl the Internet looking for web sites.  The spiders go from site to site following links and going wherever the links take them.  This means that if some web site out there has a link to your site on theirs, spiders will eventually follow that link to your site, causing your web site to get indexed into Google.  This also means that I shouldn’t have a reason to keep resubmitting my web site to Google, because the spiders will keep coming to my site as long as there are links pointing to it from other sites.

I didn’t submit this blog to Google, and it has been indexed surprisingly faster than I expected.  So if you want to, go ahead and don’t submit your web site to Google, you don’t really need too.
